Just like body tattoos, body piercing has also increased tremendously and is in latest fashion all over the world. Teenagers to young adults everybody has this craze of piercing their body part except from usual places which we already have, which mostly includes more than one hole in ears, lips, tongue, eyebrows, navel, chin etc.  There are many different ways people like to identify themselves as like their style of dress, dance, music, language, tattoos and body piercing is one of it that describes individual’s personality.


 Piercing is a form of body modification, in which a person punctures a hole in any part of your body where you want and insert some jewellery or silver plated wire  in the hole to keep it from closing. Unlike tattoos body piercing has no such precautions, in tattoo you cannot soak water for at least a week and cannot be exposed to sun for more than 2 weeks.

 From many centauries Body piercing has been a way for people to express themselves. Around four thousand years ago nose piercing was first originated in Middle East and practiced in Africa and Asia, which was used by slave, native Americans, athletes, Africans, Europeans. Which now has come into fashion. The Indian women wear expensive nose jewellery which is plated with mostly gold and silver too to adore their noses. These women were distinguished for the kind of jewellery they used to wear which showed their rank and title in the society.

There are several different reasons why people do body pricing.   The reasons might not be right all the time but people still get them done. Some might do piercing because of the peer pressure, some do piercing to get into a certain group which has always been  in a public notice, some people it done because they think it is beautiful and want to add more beauty on their faces and personality. 15-25 is the main age group that seems to get piercing done.  Tongue piercing is one of the most popular these days and many people ask for.

There are some dangers involved too in body piercing. The first one is your body might reject it, if pierced with an unsterilized needle, you may get hepatitis, HIV, or any other blood transmitted diseases which the other person. Body tissues can be damaged if not done by a professional. You may hit a vein. You’re that part of a body may get swollen and would pain so much. Sometimes you need to take injection to close that piercing.

For piercing find a clean, safe and sanitary shop which provides healthy environment because some shops might not take good precautions against health hazards. If you want to get body pierced, investigate a little about a shop’s procedure and check if they provide healthy and clean environment for the customers. Every piercing shop should have instruments sealed in packets until they are in use and should keep autoclave.

People who have heart disease has a higher risk of getting heart infection after body piercing, or people with medical problem like skin disorders, diabetes, allergies, that can affect your immune system or any bleeding disorder- better consult a doctor and take precautions beforehand.
