interview of a girl prsuing fashion designing course

Interview of a girl pursuing fashion designing course

Priya Bharti is studying fashion technology in IIS University. This is her second here. So now I would like her to ask some questions related to her subject.

1-   How did you end up studying fashion design?
Well I always had this in mind that I am good at designing and have interest in fashion field.  Fashion designing needs lot f creativity, sketching, drawing and most important patience. Patience because a little needle and a sword both are pointed , whereas a sword may do the work too quickly but you still need a needle to sew a dress. After all everyone would like to wear a nice and attractive designer clothes.

2-   Do fashion design studies feel as competitive as they seem?
It depends on person to person as how much he or she is indulged in fashion field. If they are capable enough to open up a store or a boutique and are earning good or handsome salary or profit, then definitely yes. The important thing is that person should always be aware of every latest trends of the fashion so that he/she can come up with all those trends and can hang on their stores designer clothes.

3-   It’s just been 2 years but how would you describe yourself as a designs?
Myself as a designer is a very big term right now. I still am learning and know very little about fashion as it is a vast subject to study. Though in two years i have learned a lot but i still need many more years to get perfect. I learned to give different pencil shading with water colors, stencils making etc. The worst of me as a designer is sewing, it’s too hard to make different types of style on a piece of cloth with threads, and it really is not my cup of tea. I find myself good at drawing, sketching and shading. Future is unpredictable- hope to be a famous designer one day.

4-   What is the research you do before each of your design?
Of course the more you know, the more you get god at it. As far as my subject assignment I have to dig up the whole library and see what is relevant for my design and how can i make it easier to draw. You really need to know each and every single detail of chain stitch (embroidery). You should always keep in mind the latest as well as the old & ancient fashion before you start your work.

5-   What are your plans as you move forward in fashion industry?
My future plans are to do more good in my field and take my threats seriously so that i can be a good and a known designer among the masses.  I dream about meeting many well known designers including Manish Malhotra and Christine Mc. Cartney.  I want my designs to be simple but should attract the masses in a one look, and for this I need creativity.
